HEIC to PNG Converter
Yes — you can convert HEIC photos to PNG right here, in this tab. The decoder runs locally, the PNG is written by your browser, and no photo ever reaches a server.

Conversion runs entirely in your browser with a local decoding engine. Your photos are never uploaded to a server. Very large photos or large batches take longer in a browser tab than in native software. Limits: up to 30 MB per photo, 20 photos per batch, 100 MB per batch.
PNG vs JPG: which output do you need?
Both outputs start from the same locally decoded pixels — the difference is what happens next. PNG stores every pixel losslessly, which makes it the right choice for screenshots, artwork with text, images you plan to edit again, or anything that needs transparency. JPG applies lossy compression, producing much smaller files that are ideal for sharing photos.
A PNG converted from a HEIC photo is almost always bigger than a JPG of the same picture — often 3-8× bigger. That is the format working as designed: theW3C PNG specificationguarantees pixel-perfect storage, so nothing is discarded.

How the conversion works
- Choose PNG above (the format buttons sit at the top of the converter).
- Drop your .heic files — single photo or up to 20 at once.
- Download the .png files — one download button per photo.
Your browser applies the iPhone’s rotation metadata before re-encoding, so the PNG comes out upright without manual fixes. Nothing is stored: close the tab and the working copies are gone.
HEIC to PNG FAQ
When should I choose PNG instead of JPG?
Choose PNG when you need lossless quality or transparency — screenshots, logos, text-heavy images, or anything you will edit again. Choose JPG for photos, where lossy compression saves space with little visible difference.
Is a HEIC to PNG conversion lossless?
The conversion itself does not throw away any data: PNG stores every pixel the decoder produced. But HEIC is already a compressed format, so the PNG will be significantly larger than the original photo — that is the format trade-off, not a loss in conversion.
Do my photos get uploaded?
No. The decoding engine runs inside this tab and the PNG is written by your own browser. Files never leave your device — there is no server side to this tool.
What is the file size limit?
Up to 30 MB per photo, 20 photos per batch, and 100 MB total per batch. Very large ProRAW-style photos should be processed in smaller groups to keep the tab responsive.
